The mysterious Rollright Stones, a stone circle 2 miles to the north of the town, are evidence of prehistoric habitation in the area and are well worth an exploration. Keith Moon, former drummer with ‘The Who’ once owned the Crown and Cushion Hotel, while the comedian Ronnie Barker ran The Emporium antique shop after his retirement from showbusiness in 1987. Oxford and Stow-on-the-Wold are a 30-minute drive. Small children will enjoy visiting the chickens, sheep and ponies in the neighbouring fields whilst older children will enjoy the adventure playground at Blenheim Palace (15-minute drive).
